Sit With Me

10 Feb

Here we are, day 4 of my photography quest.

I may have to start an album with more pictures because I’m finding that as I take more photos, I have a harder time picking just one. This was again shot using Aperture priority, F5.6, shutter 1/4000. I took this picture later in the day, around 4ish. Here’s a black and white I shot that I like as well.

Opposite side of the bench. Aperture Priority again, f16, shutter 1/1000. Shooting it in black and white just sort of made it feel lonelier to me.

In crafty news, I sewed up a new iPhone sleeve tonight. It’s not perfect but it was my tester just to see if my measurements were correct. I really like it and think if I can manage to get it even and straight it will be perfect for men! And women if I switch the fabric. I’m going to give it another go tonight to see if I can get it right. I sewed my first button hole as well tonight and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I’m not sure why I get so scared of button holes and zippers, all it takes is a little practice and research! Hopefully I will have made a better one tonight so that I can post a picture of it tomorrow. Time to put Monkey to bed so mommy can sew!

Rob, your work is fantastic both sewing & photos. I love used to sew myself but frankly at my age everything I do has to be stress free. I admire how you are able to do so much and manage to have time to sew & take photographs. Oh yes, I think I have good guess, you’re in your twenties! Viva la juventud! Seriously you are a super woman of the 21st century. I had 2 babies in the 80’s very closed in age like yours. I was never able to keep my house neat or cook or sew or take on any additional hobbies all on the same day. I was only able to take care of my kids and even that one task kept me pretty much exhausted. Mamarob pad
yourself on the back because you are
amazing in my book. One favor, can you please share the name of your camera? I am in market to buy one. I love the simplicity of my iPhone but for action & close up shots I really need a camera that can perform. Thank you and keep up the great job!

Thank you! If only I was still in my 20’s lol, I’m going to be 32 this year! Some days, most days, I am too exhausted to do much sewing but as long as I do a little each day it keeps me sane. I know the only reason I am able to do as much as I do is because Ren makes sure I have the time to pursue my passions. He has been so supportive and encouraging and that makes all the difference, plus he has a job that allows him to be home a lot.

The camera I have is a Nikon D80, with a Macro lens (18-200mm). I love this camera and really want to get some a new lens but they are pricey…this was not the lens my camera came with, I opted to get the upgrade from standard when i bought the camera. I hear the Canon Rebel is a pretty good DSLR too. I recommend going to a camera store (not Best Buy) that specializes in selling cameras and photo equipment, they are very knowledgeable, will let you try out the cameras, and most times offer free classes if you buy a camera from them. Hope that helps!

So far this I my favorite picture (the one in color) I like everything about it, the point of view, the abstractness of the beach, and the composition. Well done!! I want a framed copy tQo hang on my wall!! (no joke!)

Thanks sister!! By the end of this I’m going to have a lot to send off to get enlarged so I can frame them! You provide the frame I’ll get the print.
