Getting Etsy ready

4 Aug

Remember those crayon rolls I made last week? Well, I sold 3 out of 4 of them! My hubby took them to work with him and a few of the moms he works with bought them for their kids. It’s amazing how it feels to sell something I made, especially when it’s doing something I absolutely love! I am my own worst critic, which is why I keep saying I’m going to ย open an Etsy shop but as of yet have not. I see my work and think, that stitching right there could have been done a little straighter or maybe those two fabrics really don’t go together as well as I think they do. I think selling those crayon rolls gave me the boost of confidence in my skills that I needed. Is there room for improvement? Always. Do I think I can be successful at this? I hope so. It’s scary for me to put myself out there and I don’t know the first thing about Etsy besides how to ย buy things off it. A friend had posted this on Facebook awhile ago and it’s something I’ve been trying to live, “IF your dreams don’t scare you, you aren’t dreaming big enough.” Wow right? With that as my new motto I’ve gotten busy making a few things to open up a shop with. I still have to do a lot of research on exactly what I have to do to open a shop and how to make it look attractive, but I’m setting a goal for myself to have it up no later than January 1st. I was scared to say that out loud, but now that I did I’m excited.

And here’s a little collage on what I made this week so far, a couple of camera wristlet cases.

The only downside to working with fabrics I love is that I want to keep these for myself!! For my family and friends that read this blog, if you want one of these before my Etsy shop opens, just shoot me an email and we can work something out. And I have to give my hubby a big thank you for encouraging me to pursue this passion of mine and for giving me the time to sew. He has been my biggest supporter in everything I do, even if it has changed quite a few times over the years. And he’s a pretty darn good salesman!

Thank you so much, I really do hope people will like my shop. It is scary putting yourself out there and a lot of work, but it’s encouraging when you hear that people like what you’re making. Once you have that first sale it really pushes you to keep going. Good luck with opening that shop, the things you have shared on your blog are beautiful, I especially love that zig zag quilt you made.
